St Anne's College
About the college
St Anne’s, well-known for its friendly and supportive academic environment, has over 300 graduates from many countries.
The college is adjacent to the University Parks, the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter and the University Science Area, and is a short walk from the city centre.
St Anne’s is modern, open and committed to opportunity, and keen to reach out to students from around the world, involving all students in college life. St Anne’s offers a number of generous graduate scholarships, teaching scholarships, as well as travel and research grants.
The college has a dynamic research community supported by academics across the disciplines. Graduates are central to this lively, intellectually challenging culture. There are numerous events, academic and social, arranged by the MCR and SCR, which attract distinguished speakers and alumnae and bring together graduates and fellows. Regular subject family evenings and discussion group meetings give graduates a forum to present their work to fellows and other members of the college.
The Tutor for Graduates oversees the smooth running of graduate matters, working closely with the graduate student community and its committee of elected officers.
Accommodation and meals
As a result of refurbishment works scheduled to take place during the 2023/24 academic year, the College is able to offer a limited number of single standard bedrooms for graduates on the main college site in Eleanor Plumer House. On the ground floor of this house is the MCR common room, a kitchen and a computer room. College accommodation is sometimes available at other locations across the city. It is planned that additional rooms will be available from October 2024 onwards.
There are no double rooms or family accommodation in the college's provision. St Anne’s does, however, have a nursery for children aged six months to five years.
Meals are provided in the college's dining hall in term time, from Monday of 0th week until Friday of 9th week. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served on weekdays, and brunch is offered on Saturdays and Sundays.
Accommodation charges are separate to meal charges.
Library and IT services
St Anne’s has one of the largest college libraries in Oxford with some 110,000 volumes. There are good collections in all subjects, and excellent collections in most. Education, English, philosophy, politics and medicine are among the subjects especially well catered for.
The college has invested in a new purpose-built library and academic centre. The new building provides increased room for the collections, additional computers, and a wide range of both silent and group study spaces.
The library is open to college members 24/7, both during term and in the vacations.
There is a shared JCR/MCR computer room with printing and scanning facilities, and other terminals are available around the college. Wi-fi access is available throughout the college.
