Building our future

Oxford's estate includes some of the oldest and finest buildings in the city as well as showcasing much newer, state-of-the-art architecture.

Estate strategy

The University of Oxford has grown over eight centuries among publicly and privately owned buildings in a very compact city - creating different challenges to those faced by campus universities.

Planning and consultation

The University spends more than £100 million per year on major building projects and will invest £2 billion in the estate over the next decade.

Community

Oxford's museums include the Ashmolean Museum, the History of Science Museum, the Museum of Natural History and the Pitt Rivers Museum. All offer free admission to their permanent collections.

We own and manage 67 listed buildings, out of a portfolio of around 235 buildings used for teaching, research and administration.

Housing and innovation

The creation of innovation districts will enable us to offer better facilities for University spinouts, work more closely with partners, support our local economy and make an even greater contribution to the national economy.
