With its team of expert consultants and research software engineers, the AI Competency Centre is equipped to support a wide range of projects across the University.

It has supported a variety of University-wide pilot programmes, testing out the viability and user experience of commercial AI tools prior to releasing them more widely for staff and students.

Ahead of the 2025/26 academic year at Oxford, the AI Competency Centre team played a key role in coordinating the University’s rollout of ChatGPT Edu, and delivering training and guidance informed by the earlier pilots, working closely with teams in a wide range of service areas, across Oxford.

Recently featured on BBC 4’s Woman’s Hour, Ella is frequently invited to speak at conferences and events across the University. She is particularly interested in how AI can support personal productivity and empower individuals to make AI work for them.
