Careers support for disabled and neurodivergent students
Information for disabled and neurodivergent students including understanding your employment rights, how to discuss your condition with employers and how to request adjustments.
According to the Oxford University Disability Advisory Service, more than 25% of the student population declared a disability on their University student record or directly with the Service in 2021-2022. As Oxford University's primary point of support on all things careers and employability, we aim to provide tailored guidance
to all students and researchers who identify as having a disability, neurodivergence or long-term health condition.
Making the most of the careers support available at Oxford while balancing academic work can be tricky. Doing so while also managing a disability/health condition and navigating extra considerations such as if and how to discuss your circumstances with employers can be particularly demanding. Below are some of the ways in which we can support you.
How we can help
There is no "one size fits all" approach to disability so we offer a range of options, including:
- Dedicated 1:1 appointments to discuss your individual circumstances. See our Advice Appointments page for more details about these appointments,
including what we might cover and how you can book them. Due to availability and demand, please note that students may only book one dedicated disability appointment every 28 days. All students, however, can book a maximum of one 20 minute student
appointment each week. - Bespoke events covering topics such as if and how to talk about disability and neurodivergence with employers, how to ask for adjustments, tips to help you transition to the workplace with confidence, among many others. You
