Careers and internships
Careers support is available to all Crankstart Scholars including one-to-one advice, exclusive internships, internship bursaries and careers mentoring.
The Crankstart Internship Programme
Crankstart Scholars are encouraged and supported to undertake vacation internships to develop their employability skills, explore career options, and gain workplace experience during their studies.
The Crankstart Internship Programme offers exclusive Crankstart-only internship placements and a regular opportunities bulletin for Scholars. Crankstart Scholars can also apply for an internship bursary of up to £3,200 to help you undertake an internship of their choice.
The Internship Office at Careers, University of Oxford also provides one-to-one support and advice to help students explore their options, prepare applications, and plan their next steps.

The Crankstart Careers Mentoring Programme
The Crankstart Careers Mentoring Programme matches Crankstart Scholars with experienced professionals working in sectors they are interested in exploring. Mentors and mentees meet four times over six months, either online or in person, providing an opportunity to gain insights, discuss career ideas and learn from professional experience.
The Crankstart Career Development Programme provides structured support for students at different stages of their career planning. It covers topics ranging from generating and exploring career ideas to finding work experience and preparing applications, while introducing students to useful Careers resources and support.

The Internship Office are happy to offer guidance and answer questions including on how to make an internship application and how to reflect on the skills you’ve developed and experience you’ve gained from your internship. They can also answer questions about funding for internships, or you can book a one-to-one session with a Careers Advisor.
