Centre for Teaching and Learning

Supporting excellence in teaching and assessment at Oxford.

About us

The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is the University of Oxford's hub for educational enhancement. We work with academic and professional services staff across the collegiate University to support excellence in teaching, learning and assessment.

Our work brings together educational development and digital education to help colleagues design and enhance courses and assessments, develop inclusive teaching practices, make effective use of digital technologies and respond to emerging opportunities, including artificial intelligence in education. We work in partnership with departments, faculties and colleges, providing consultancy, practical guidance, professional development and opportunities to share practice across Oxford.

Whether you are developing a new course reviewing assessment, enhancing your use of Canvas or exploring innovative approaches to teaching, we provide evidence-informed support that can be adapted to your local context.

We also support the professional development and recognition of those who teach and support learning. Our Advance HE-accredited Oxford Teaching, Learning and Educational Leadership Recognition Scheme enables academic and professional services staff to gain Fellowship of Advance HE, alongside supporting learning technologists and learning developers to apply for professional recognition for their roles.
