Training for students
Students may be required to complete online training to help maintain a safe, respectful and secure University community.
The training that applies to you may depend on when you started your course, the nature of your studies and whether you handle University information or personal data. You should complete any training you have been assigned by the University, your department or your college.
To access the training outlined on this page, you will need to sign in using your Oxford Single Sign-On (SSO) account.
Mandatory harassment and sexual misconduct training
All students starting a course at Oxford from September 2026 are required to complete the University’s Harassment and Sexual Misconduct online training. Returning students are strongly encouraged to complete it. You should complete the training before you begin registration.
The training will help you understand:
• What harassment and sexual misconduct can look like
• Your role in promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive university community
• The impact that harassment and sexual misconduct can have on individuals and the community
• Where to find support and how to report a concern
Help and support
The Sexual Harassment and Violence Support Service provides a safe and confidential space for students to be supported, independent of their college or department.
The Service offers free support and advice to any student who has been affected by sexual harassment or violence; whoever you are, whatever has happened and whenever this was. They also support students impacted by domestic abuse and stalking.
You can also find out more about the University's approach to preventing and responding to harassment and sexual misconduct.
Information security and data protection training
Keeping information secure helps protect you, other members of the University community, and the systems we all rely on for studying, teaching and research.
How would you feel if your personal data was used in a way you didn’t expect? All students have a collective responsibility to look after the data you have access to at Oxford, and to treat other people’s data as you’d expect yours to be treated. If you spot suspicious activity or a potential data breach, please report this immediately.
Online safety training for all students
All students are encouraged to complete the University’s short online safety course, which features animations and quizzes. It’s accessed through MetaCompliance, our third-party security training partner, and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. It provides practical guidance on recognising phishing, avoiding online scams, using social media safely and protecting your personal information. More information about online safety is available on the University website, including top tips to keep in mind while you’re at Oxford.
