The University has a number of prizes and awards available for academic achievement. For more information, select from the following subject areas.

Prize list

Archaeology and AnthropologyVarious prizes are available for students from the School of Archaeology.
ArtThe University offers a range of annual prizes and awards to Fine Art students.
BiochemistryPrizes are awarded based on performance in University exams.
ChemistryPrizes are awarded based on outstanding performance in University exams
Classics - WeblearnPrizes are on offer to reward performance in undergraduate examinations.
Economics: undergraduate and graduateUndergraduate and graduate prizes are available in a range of Economics subjects.
English Language and LiteratureVarious prizes are available for students from the Faculty of English.
Engineering ScienceVarious prizes are available for students from the Department of Engineering Science.
Gibbs Prizes (all departments)Gibbs Prizes will be awarded based on the results of coursework and public examinations.
HistoryVarious prizes are available for students from the Faculty of History.
Law: undergraduate and graduateUndergraduate and graduate students deemed to have submitted the best paper in a wide range of subject areas are eligible for awards presented by the Faculty of Law.
MaterialsThere are numerous prizes awarded each year to both undergraduate and postgraduate students to recognise outstanding achievements.
MathematicsPrizes are awarded annually by the Examiners to undergraduate students to recognise outstanding performance in examinations. 
Medical Sciences - WebLearnThe Medical School administers a number of prizes and scholarships for clinical medical students.
Medieval and Modern Languages - WeblearnPrizes are available from the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages.
PhilosophyPrizes are available, rewarding outstanding work submitted for a dissertation, examination or thesis, as well as for overall performance.
Physics: undergraduate and graduatePrizes are are available to undergraduate students of Physics & Physics and Philosophy. Awards are also on offer to reward outstanding work for graduate research students of Condensed Matter Physics.
PoliticsPrize awarded for the best first year quantitative methods essay, submitted by Philosophy, Politics and Economics or History and Politics students for the Q-Step assignment.
Spanish studiesThe de Osma Studentship is open to students concerned with Spanish studies, such as Spanish art history, Spanish language and literature, Spanish history, geography, or archaeology.
St Edmund HallThe Rebecca West Prize for writing is open to all students at the University of Oxford 
Student awards - Alumni associationThe Student Awards scheme funded by the University alumni association focuses on support for sport and participation.
