Summary of the German Scholarships
Scholarship | Description |
Hanseatic Scholarships | The Hanseatic Scholarships were established by the Hamburg-based Alfred Toepfer Stiftung FVS to reciprocate the Rhodes Scholarships to the University of Oxford from Germany. The scholarships enable students from the universities of Oxford or Cambridge to undertake research at doctoral or postdoctoral level, to pursue a workable project not connected to a research degree, or to obtain a German degree. When applying for a Hanseatic Scholarship, with plans to do a Master's degree in Germany, your application will also be considered for a 'You and Europe' Scholarship. |
Theodor Heuss Research Fellowship | The Theodor Heuss Research Fellowship is financed through the Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung, by a gift from the former President of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Fellowship allows students to undertake research in a field of their choice at any university or research institution in Germany. |
Michael Foster Memorial Scholarship | This scholarship is not being offered in the 2025/26 academic year. The Michael Foster Memorial Scholarship is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The scholarship enables students to undertake study or research in a field of their choice at any university, excluding art and music academies, in Germany. |
