Philip Stier is Professor of Atmospheric Physics and Director of the Intelligent Earth UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in AI for the Environment.

Professor Stier’s main research interests are in clouds and aerosol physics, their interactions and relationship to the climate. He works to understand the key role of clouds for climate change combining theory, numerical modelling and Earth observations with AI.

Professor Stier leads the Climate Processes Group in the Department of Physics and is on the steering group of the University’s Oxford Climate Research Network.
