The University demonstrates its continuing concern for the welfare of its pensioners and dependants through the work of the Pensioners' Welfare Officer. Should you wish to discuss any welfare issue, or if you know of somebody else in need or difficulties, please contact Julia Powles, the Pensioners' Welfare Officer. She will arrange home visits where appropriate. 

The Association of Oxford University Pensioners (AOUP), founded in 1985, has the principal object of keeping retired staff in touch with each other and with the University department or institution that employed them.

Every employee who is working for the University at the time of his or her retirement - academic and non-academic – is automatically a member of the Association.

All retired employees receive a free copy of the Association's newsletter, University Pensioner, which is published twice each year.

Members and their partners may pay a small annual subscription to participate in the social activities of the Association. These include informal meetings, lectures on topics of general interest, and half- and whole-day visits in and around Oxford and further afield as well as an extended trip to more distant parts of the country.

The Association is also concerned for the welfare of its members and co-operates with the University's Pensioners' Welfare Officer. When you retire, your membership is automatic. NHSPS and USS Pensioners

Oxford University retirees are able to apply for a University Card. All you need to know about applying for a retiree card and the different card types available can be accessed via the University Card Office. Please note that Finance does not run the University card service and card queries must be directed to University Card Office via your department or college.

Any person presenting proof that they are currently in receipt of an Oxford University Pension may join the University sports facilities at a discount on the public rates.

You are eligible to join the University Club as a pensioner if you fall into one of the categories below and have a University Card:

• retired from working for the University and in receipt of a USS or OSPS pension;
• retired from working for a College and in receipt of College pension.

Retired staff are welcomed at the Language Teaching Centre, which encourages lifelong language learning amongst retired members of staff. The appropriate elected persons fee will need to be paid.
