The Careers Service is now Careers, University of Oxford

The world of work is evolving rapidly. Advances in AI, global recruitment markets, longer and more varied working lives, and growing demand for adaptable skills are reshaping career opportunities and the capabilities people need. 

The new identity better reflects the breadth of Careers' work across the University, supporting students, researchers and alumni while building connections with employers, organisations and partners. It also brings greater focus to an ambition to make career development an integral part of the Oxford experience. 

Careers, University of Oxford helps students and researchers explore what they might do, find direction, develop workplace skills and gain experience. Through careers guidance, programmes, internships, events and employer engagement, Careers helps people discover different sectors and career paths and make informed decisions about what comes next.

Last year alone, students made around 7,400 one-to-one appointments and over 9,400 visits to our careers fairs, while Careers and Internship Office sourced and advertised more than 2,000 internships, including opportunities across 33 countries.

Careers also works with alumni, employers and organisations across and beyond the University to create opportunities, share insights and build partnerships that support career development and employability.

You don't need to know what you want to do before engaging with Careers. In fact, that's one of the best reasons to start. 

Career development isn't something to leave until your final year or until you're applying for a job. Engaging with Careers throughout your time at Oxford gives you the opportunity to explore possibilities, test your ideas, develop workplace skills, gain experience through internships and programmes, and discover career paths you may not previously have considered. 

Make Careers part of your Oxford experience. Start exploring early, alongside your academic studies, and use the opportunities available throughout your time here as a student or researcher.

Careers continues beyond your time at Oxford. Alumni can access careers resources and opportunities, attend careers fairs and selected events, and take part in dedicated alumni careers workshops. 

Alumni can also help others develop their careers by sharing professional experience and insights, taking part in Careers events and mentoring, offering internships, or connecting their organisation with Careers.

Employers and organisations can collaborate with Careers in a variety of ways, from advertising vacancies on CareerConnect and meeting Oxford students and researchers through careers fairs and events to offering internships and sharing insights into different organisations, sectors and career paths.
