About the college
Harris Manchester College is dedicated solely to mature students, and accepts both graduate and undergraduate students from the age of 21, with no upper age limit.
As one of the smallest colleges in the University, there is an intimate, friendly atmosphere, with a great deal of peer support. The diversity of HMC's students in terms of age, culture and background makes the college a very interesting and vibrant community.
The college is in a central but quiet location, close to the Bodleian Library and many other libraries and departments.
Accommodation and meals
All graduate accommodation is on the main college site. Accommodation is only available in single study-bedrooms; those requiring family accommodation should apply to the University Accommodation Office. Accommodation is awarded by ballot.
Accommodation charges include meals during term time - breakfast, lunch and dinner from Monday to Friday, breakfast on Saturday and brunch on Sunday. During vacations accommodation is self-catering only.
Library and IT services
The college's principal library resource, the Tate Library, is open to students 24 hours a day during term time.
Friendly professional library staff provide one-to-one guidance and help to students. There are fifty study spaces, over two floors of the library, and eight dedicated library PCs with printing and scanning facilities.
WiFi access is available throughout most of the college, including student accommodation, and there are on-site IT staff to support both students and staff.
Sport, music and college facilities
The college offers corporate membership of a health club in Oxford for all students, as well as access to the University gym and swimming pool.
There is a college punt (the 'Royle Yacht'), a college choir and regular concerts during term time. Music lessons are available to students.
Facilities for students with disabilities
Harris Manchester is committed to providing equality of opportunity for people with disabilities. Please contact the college for information.
The Harris Manchester College MCR is located in one of the graduate houses, which also contains a kitchen for use by all graduate students. The MCR Committee organises a number of social events each term.
