Undergraduate admissions statistics
Oxford University is pleased to publish its Annual Admissions Statistical Report. This gives information on the students who have applied to our undergraduate courses, received offers and been admitted, over the last five admissions years between 2021 and 2025.
Statistical breakdown
The statistics are broken down by domicile, nation and region of the UK, disadvantage, school type, gender, ethnicity and disability, and they are presented at University level and by course and college. We publish this Report to measure our progress and provide transparency about our processes.
In 2025, 3,302 students were admitted to Oxford to begin their undergraduate studies; 79% of undergraduate students admitted were from the UK. Of UK students admitted, 20.9% came from the most socio-economically disadvantaged areas as measured by the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD), and 6.6% had been eligible for Free School Meals.
We remain committed over the long-term to ensuring that those with the highest academic potential, from all backgrounds, can realise their aspirations to study here. We continue to build on and expand our outreach activities, engaging with students from key stage 3 to support attainment, provide advice and build confidence.
Between 2021 and 2025, within the total group of UK-domiciled undergraduates admitted:
- The proportion from state schools decreased slightly from 68.2% to 66.5%.
- The proportion identifying as Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) increased from 24.6% to 30.0%.
- The proportion identifying as Mixed Heritage increased from 8.2% in 2021 to 10.5% in 2025.
- The proportion eligible for Free School meals increased from 5.3% to 6.6%.
- The proportion from socio-economically disadvantaged areas, as measured by the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD), fell slightly from 21.1% to 20.9%
- The proportion declaring a disability increased from 11.6% to 19.5%.
- The proportion of women decreased from 55.2% to 50.6%.
We remain committed to ensuring that talented, academically motivated students, from all backgrounds, see Oxford as a place for them and have a fair chance of securing an offer for their selected course.
