Welfare and wellbeing: Upcoming workshops

There are a number of upcoming workshops organised by the Oxford University Counselling Service in order to help you manage your welfare and wellbeing in Hilary term.

Managing Panic

Friday 29 January 2021, 11:30 am - 12:45 pm, with Dr. Ruth Williams

A panic attack is an extreme episode of anxiety that can make you feel out of control and very frightened. This 75-psycho-educational workshop will help you to understand what causes panic attacks and teach you practical strategies to manage them using a CBT approach.

Relaxation in Covid Times

Wednesday 10 February 2021, 5:15 pm - 6:30 pm, with Dr. Anne-Marie Daly

For many, Covid has led to high levels of stress and tension. This workshop will introduce techniques you can use to release mental and physical tension and restore a sense of wellbeing. Please ensure you have a safe, private space to engage in the workshop. You will need access to a yoga mat or a comfortable chair. As the workshop is experiential and interactive, we ask that cameras be kept on.

Conquering Insomnia

Friday 12 February 2021, 10:30 am - 11:45 am, with Dr. Ruth Collins

Sleep is a concern for many students even in ordinary times. Some are reporting even greater sleep difficulties during Covid. This psycho-educational workshop will help you to overcome your sleep problems through understanding the nature of sleep and the common habits and behaviours that can interfere with good sleep patterns. Using a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy based approach you will learn strategies and techniques that with practice will help you get a good night's sleep.

Workshops are open to all Oxford students. To book, send an email to: [email protected]
