Help to shape Oxford with a University internship

The University does not just deliver services to students, it is shaped and improved by them through active collaboration.

Through the Careers Service's internship programmes departments and teams across the University host students for projects lasting from two to five days for the Micro-Internship Programme and from two to twelve weeks for the Summer Internship Programme. These opportunities are advertised exclusively to Oxford students, ensuring that participants contribute directly to the development and enhancement of our services, programmes and museum collections while gaining valuable professional experience.

The University internship experience

Over the years, editorial interns have supported flagship publications such as the Oxford Guide to Careers, researching, drafting and refining content. Others have undertaken research-led projects to improve guidance materials, develop engagement strategies and enhance the accessibility of student-facing resources. Interns have also contributed to archival work at the University’s Museum of Natural History and digitised photographic collections at the Pitt Rivers Museum. Coming up, micro-interns will collaborate with staff in Student Welfare and Support Services to shape the development of the underpinning principles for the University’s Student Mental Health Strategy 2027-2032, among many other valuable projects.

For a more detailed look at what previous interns have worked on and the impact the projects have had, read the Summer Internship Experience bookletsorMicro-Internship testimonials.
