Crankstart - Careers and internships

Careers support is available to all Crankstart Scholars including one-to-one advice, exclusive internships, internship bursaries and careers mentoring.

Internships

Crankstart Scholars are encouraged to undertake vacation internships and are supported by the Internship Office at the University’s Careers Service. Internships are a great way to develop your employability skills and gain valuable workplace experience during your studies. Crankstart Scholars have interned all over the world including in London, Switzerland, Jordan and Uganda, to name but a few.

It is very reassuring to know that there are exclusive internships which Scholars can apply for, and that there are careers advisers on hand for one-on-one 30 minute sessions for guidance with CVs, applications to internships and much more.

They also offer exclusive Crankstart-only internship placements and issue a regular bulletin exclusively for Crankstart Scholars. You can apply for an internship bursary of up to £3,200 to enable you to carry out an internship of your choice.

Careers Mentoring Programme

The Internship Office also provides the Crankstart Careers Mentoring Programme for scholars interested in being matched with an experienced professional in an industry/sector of interest. The scheme offers the chance to learn about and explore different aspects of a profession that may be of interest to you.
