Research Staff Representation
Oxford's researcher community has representatives at every level to make sure the community's voice is heard.
Broadly, these fall into two categories:
- Representatives of departments/faculties or colleges
- Representatives on University committees and working groups
Here is how they are structured:

Department or faculty research staff and colleges representatives act as a two-way link between their wider peer group and the University's governance structure.
Researchers also join key University committees, including Council, People Committee, Research & Innovation Committee.
For further information and the contact details of your representatives on these groups, please see - Researcher Representatives on other University Committees.
If you are interested in joining a committee or working group, please see - Current Opportunities to join Committees and Working Groups as a Researcher Representative.
Please use the Divisional section (for University staff) or Colleges section below to find your representative.

The structure of researcher representatives is complex, and it can be hard to get a sense of the humans behind it.
In these series of videos, taken at a representatives event at Balliol College in March 2025, they talk about their experiences and challenges.
