Consultations and inquiries

Governments, parliaments and local governments, international organisations, and other bodies often seek expert input into their policy design and evaluation. These pages provide links to the latest consultations advertised.

Governments and local councils often advertise for expert input into policy design processes. This consultation helps governments to develop and deliver public services and public policy in the most effective way.

Parliaments often advertise for expertise through their Committee of Select Committee inquiries. These inquiries assess how well government and public bodies plan, design and deliver public services and public policy. They may also hold short inquiries to investigate how government and public bodies respond to crises.

Written submissions in response to calls for evidence of this kind are often short. You can submit responses as an individual, or as part of a team involving others at Oxford, other universities or other organisations. You may consequently be contacted to attend a meeting to enable you to share your evidence or expertise in more detail. The Policy Engagement Team can provide support if required.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss your engagement with a consultation or inquiry, please get in touch with the Policy Engagement Team at [email protected].

We are available to:

  • Walk you through the submission process
  • Review any written submissions
  • Provide guidance on the government or parliamentary process
