North West Ancient Worlds Network Residential 2026
Corpus Christi and The Queen's Colleges, University of Oxford, are collaborating to run the North West Ancient Worlds Network (AWN). We invite current Year 12 students in the North West with an interest in Classics and the ancient world to apply for a four-day residential in Oxford. The residential will take place from Tuesday 17 March to Friday 20 March 2026.
Attendees will benefit from a range of academic taster sessions, a visit to local Roman Villa ruins, interactions with current Oxford undergraduate students and a visit to the Ashmolean museum. Accommodation and meals will be provided free of charge, and reasonable travel expenses to and from Oxford will be reimbursed.
To be eligible to apply for this residential, you must be attending a state school in the North West of England (incl. Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire and Cumbria). If you are not sure whether your school is in one of these areas, you can check if it is listed on the Oxford for North West regional outreach page or you can email [email protected] to double check.
You do not have to be studying Latin, Greek, Ancient History or Classical Civilisations at A-level to attend this programme. We encourage applications from students taking a wide range of A-level courses who have a curious mind and would like to gain greater insight into a Classics-related course (Classics and joint schools, Classical Archaeology and Ancient History, Ancient and Modern History) at degree level.
Applications will close at 12pm on Monday 9 February 2026.
