Join us for a fun-filled online activity day hosted by the Oxford Physics & Materials Departments, perfect for Year 12 students interested in Materials Science or Physics.

Each year, the Physics and Materials Science Departments collaborate on a full day of workshops and talks aimed at Y12 students. During this fun-filled yet instructive online activity day, participants will be given the opportunity to carry out experiments in both departments and will learn more about these exciting subjects.

Due to continued uncertainty over face-to-face events due to the pandemic, this event will be held online this year. As a result, the day's programme will be somewhat different to that of past years, however it will still be an exciting day filled with Materials Science and Physics!

This event will be taking place online during the school day. As such, we expect that participating students will be in their school during the event, all in the same classroom, and the teacher will join the event webinar from the class computer and project the webinar onto a screen at the front of the classroom.

In order for the event to be interactive, each participating student would need access to an individual device with access to the internet to take part in polls and other interactive activities. This device could be a student's own mobile phone or a school issued laptop/tablet. They would not be expected to connect to the webinar on this device.

The event will run from approximately 9:30am - 3:30pm with a long break for lunch to account for differing lunch hours in different schools.

Booking information:
This event is open to high-achieving Year 12 students from UK schools who are studying Maths and Physics at A-level (or equivalent). This event is intended for students who enjoy science and who would like to find out more about Physics and Materials Science at university.

Places are limited so booking is essential. As this event is online and during the school day, there is no limit to the number of students who can join from your school, however we will be limiting the number of schools joining us in order for us to manage the event. Priority will be given to students from schools with little or no history of applications to Oxford.

Book your place by filling out the registration form linked on this page by 11am Monday 22nd November. All schools will be notified whether they have a confirmed place by 4pm Tuesday 23rd November.

As this event is during the school day, we request that registrations for students are completed by a teacher.
