Philosophy Taster Day
Keble College, University of Oxford hosts annual Subject Taster Days for Year 12 students at UK state schools/colleges who are interested in applying to related courses at Oxford, or other highly selective universities.
Tuesday 13th February: Philosophy: no specific A-Level subjects required.
At Keble College, we admit for three joint degrees with philosophy: Philosophy, Politics, and Economics; Philosophy and Theology; and Philosophy and Modern Languages (French, Italian, and Spanish; others are offered at other colleges). This taster day will be most relevant to those interested in these courses.
This Taster Day will include information and guidance on the course at Oxford and its specific admissions processes; the opportunity to meet current students and tutors; and subject-specific content such as sample lectures.
This event will run from 10am-3pm. Reimbursement is available for attendees' travel expenses.
This application form must be completed by 12 noon on Thursday 25th January 2023 to apply for a space on one of these Taster Days.
We aim to choose students who have a promising academic profile and who will most benefit from the taster days. The College will consider information such as GCSE results and predicted grades, and may consider educational and socio-economic background, using similar categories to the contextual data which is used in the Oxford admissions process.
In case of over-subscription the College may also have to limit the number of attendees per school, and prioritise spaces for schools in our link regions. We are only able to offer spaces on the taster days to students meeting the subject requirements listed above, and only to those attending a UK state school or college: no exceptions will be made to these criteria.
We will inform all applicants about whether they have been allocated a place after the deadline of 25th January and no later than 5pm on 1st February. Please note that these events are typically oversubscribed, so not all applicants will be able to attend.
