Biomedical Engineering continues to attract a lot of attention as a career option thanks to the innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities it offers.

In response to interest from secondary school students and the success of our previous Open Days, we are pleased to confirm that we will be hosting our next Open Day on 20 March 2019.

Specifically targeting pupils in Years 10-12, it will introduce them to everything Biomedical Engineering has to offer and reveal the qualifications and degree subjects that will enable them to build a successful career in this field.

Biomedical Engineering is a new and rapidly growing area, which involves engineers collaborating with doctors to develop novel medical devices, technology and systems capable of delivering substantial healthcare benefit, and to translate new engineering technologies into clinical practice. As a discipline, it lies at the intersection between the physical, mathematical and medical sciences.

The morning will consist of mini-lectures aimed at this age group, interleaved with demonstrations conducted by researchers from the Institute of Biomedical Engineering. The day will finish with a tour of the Institute and will include lunch.

We invite teachers interested in attending with a group of students to register their interest by contacting Victoria Green.
