Registration is now open for the Royal Society of Chemistry's Thames Valley Future Chemists' Competition 2026, taking place at the Chemistry Teaching Laboratory, University of Oxford on Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 January 2026.

The Thames Valley region covers schools in the following postcodes:

  • OX (all);
  • RG (all);
  • SL4, SL5, SL6, SL7;
  • GU11, GU12, GU14, GU51, GU52.

The competition is free to enter and is open to teams of four pupils. Teams should include two students from Year 8 and two from Year 9. The day will involve hands-on practical lab challenges.

The programme will take place during the school days, with lunch provided. Teams need to be accompanied by a responsible adult (this does not need to be a teacher). Bursaries are available to support school attendance.
