English, History and Classics Study Day
Study Days at University College (Univ) are one-day events hosted in College for around 60 Year 12 (or equivalent in Scotland and Northern Ireland) students. They are generally multi-subject.
The participants do not necessarily need to be set on the courses in question, but they do need to have an appropriate academic profile to make a credible application to Oxford.
The majority of the content in the Study Day will be delivered by a number of Univ’s academic tutors or graduate students, and usually comprises a mixture of lectures and group work, occasionally facilitated by current Univ undergraduates in that subject.
The Study Day is a valuable opportunity to gain insight into:
- university level study
- study of particular courses with a mind to narrowing down their subject choice
- Oxford applications
- and University College.
In supporting their super-curricular exploration, it also gives participants a subject-specific experience to write about in their personal statement and may build important critical thinking skills useful for applying to and later studying at Oxford University.
