The music project Digital Delius, a partnership between the University of Oxford and the British Library, is proud to offer its first CPD teaching event. Music teachers and heads of faculty are cordially invited to attend an interactive teaching webinar on Microsoft Teams on Friday 26 June 2020, between 10 am and 12 noon.

In 2018, the British Library launched the web resource Discovering Music (www.bl.uk/20th-century-music/), which made available large numbers of music manuscripts, recordings, and articles by experts. A number of dedicated teaching resources on the site (available at www.bl.uk/20th-century-music/teaching-resources) are aimed at helping teachers to use the digital materials on the site in teaching and to aid independent student learning.

During the current Covid-19 lockdown, questions about how to teach and support students digitally have been especially important. Our morning workshop, run by Professor Daniel Grimley and Dr Joanna Bullivant in partnership with the Faculty of Music and St Catherine’s College, will explore strategies to engage young people using the distinctive digital music resources of Discovering Music. It will also provide an opportunity for participants to help us enhance and improve these teaching resources by providing a forum to discuss and test teaching practices.

If you would like to attend this event, kindly contact [email protected] to register by 19 June 2020. In your email please state your name and school, and please let us know of any digital access special requirements.
