re you: Studying at a UK state school? Thinking of making an application to Oxford University this October to study Classics, Classical Archaeology and Ancient History, Classics and English, Classics and Modern Languages or Classics and Oriental Studies? Full of questions about how to do the best you can on each aspect of the admissions process? Worcester College and the Faculty of Classics would like to help.

There are a number of different stages involved in making an application to study Classics (including Classics (Lit. Hum.), Classical Archaeology and Ancient History, Classics and English, Classics and Oriental Studies, Classics and Modern Languages) at Oxford. We know that help with preparing for each of these stages is not evenly distributed among schools, and we want to offer support to ensure that all candidates feel confident in making their applications – no matter what kind of school they are currently studying at.

The Classics Application Preparation Day on Wednesday 4th September is a one day event that walks through each stage of the application process, offering advice, support and chance to practice different aspects of the admissions tests and interviews. In order to be eligible for a place on this event, you must be studying (any A Level or equivalent subjects) at a UK state school, and planning to make your application this October. When applying for a place on the Application Preparation Day, you will be asked a number of questions that will help us to make sure that we are prioritising those who are the least likely to be receiving support similar to the kind we can offer in their schools and colleges, and who are currently under-represented in the University.

As this is a one day event no accommodation will be available, and we expect that participants will arrange their own travel to Oxford. Please get in touch with us if the cost of doing so is likely to make it difficult for you to attend, as some support may be available.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Thursday 1st August.

If you have questions about any aspect of the day, please address them to Claire Sims, the college's Admissions and Access Officer at: [email protected].
