Teddy Hall's Big Think Competition is back for 2025!

Our tutors' 'big' tutorial-style questions have been specially designed to challenge you beyond the school curriculum and get you thinking big about your subject and what it might be like to study it at university. It's also a great super-curricular activity to include in a personal statement!

Part 1: Competition

To enter, simply record a video of 5 minutes or less answering one of our 'big' questions. We don't judge on presentation – film the video on your phone, if you'd like! – but on the quality of your arguments and research.

Open to UK state school students in Years 11-13 (S4-S6 in Scotland). The deadline for submissions is noon on Monday 12 May 2025.

Winners will receive:

  • First Prize - £100
  • Second Prize - £50
  • Subject Awards - £35

Part 2: College visit

The winners of the competition will also be invited to visit Oxford on 30 June 2025, where they will have the opportunity to discuss their entries with subject tutors, take a tour of the College with current students, and enjoy lunch in our dining hall.

You can find more information on how to enter, as well as the list of questions on the St Edmund Hall website. Good luck!
