How to find funding
Research Professional
Research Professional holds details of thousands of research funding opportunities as well as tips on targeting funders, advice for early career researchers and research policy news. It is free to use for everyone at Oxford. To make the most of Research Professional see our training and guidance.
Check our websites for internal funding opportunities, coordinated University bids, EC and GCRF/ODA funding.
Applying for funding
Check our websites for details of the application process at Oxford, including funder and scheme guidance alongside details of how we support and manage strategic and coordinated bids.
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Future Leaders Fellowship (FLF): Round 11
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) has announced Round 11 of the Future Leaders Fellowship (FLF) scheme. The UKRI FLF is a cross-council scheme that supports early career researchers with outstanding potential to tackle challenging research and develop their own careers.
The FLF scheme is highly competitive, and UKRI has capped the number of applications that can be submitted per institution. The University of Oxford is permitted to submit a maximum of twelve applications to the FLF, two of which must be applications for the UKRI Clinical FLF (CFLF). The Strategic Research Development team, Research Services, is running an internal coordinated process to select the applications for submission to UKRI, with a deadline of 12 noon, 10 February 2026.
Prospective applicants should contact the appropriate department or faculty to register their interest in the scheme, and seek advice on the application process (for example, contact the Head of Department for Research). A list of departments and faculties can be found here. Please note that some departments and faculties are unable to support applications to the scheme or may only be able to do so in particular thematic areas. Applicants should consult with their prospective hosting department or faculty at the earliest opportunity for endorsement, as some departments run an internal selection process with significantly earlier deadlines.
Managing awards
Check our websites for information on financial project management (start with the summary for PIs – SSO required), reporting to funders, data management and open access requirements.
Equity and inclusivity in research funding
We are committed to embedding equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) across all aspects of research funding. This includes how funding is accessed, supported, and managed.
We are working to identify and remove barriers for underrepresented groups and promote transparent inclusive research practices in how funding is accessed, supported and managed.
Faculties and departments are encouraged to adopt inclusive practices and take steps to ensure that all researchers are supported in accessing funding opportunities.
Researchers are encouraged to consider EDI in their research design and funding applications. This includes integrating inclusive practices into public engagement plans, considering the broader societal impact of their research, and aligning with the EDI requirements of external funders. Training and guidance are available to help researchers embed EDI principles effectively throughout the research lifecycle.
Additional resources and links are provided to help staff understand and meet both internal and external EDI expectations. These include University-wide strategies, guidance from major research funders, and practical tools to support inclusive research and funding practices.
