Continuing Education: Social Sciences

The Department for Continuing Education offers a range of part-time graduate courses in the social sciences designed to meet the interests and circumstances of adult learners.

As well as courses in archaeology and diplomatic studies, these include the MSt in International Human Rights Law and the MSc in Sustainable Urban Development. In addition, many of the students on the DPhil in Sustainable Urban Development are undertaking their research from a social scientific perspective.

Drawing on the expertise and experience of senior social sciences academics in the Department for Continuing Education and across the University, these courses are offered in modes designed to allow effective study on a part-time basis. Students will be part of a lively Graduate School community in the Department for Continuing Education, their own particular studies being supplemented by broader inter-disciplinary research seminars, training opportunities and social events.

Success in part-time master’s studies can prepare students for undertaking a DPhil.
