Continuing Education: Humanities

The Department for Continuing Education offers a range of part-time graduate courses in the humanities designed to meet the interests and circumstances of adult learners. As well as courses in history, art history, architectural history and creative writing, these include the innovative multi-disciplinary MSt in Literature and Arts and the MSt in Practical Ethics, run jointly with the Faculty of Philosophy.

These courses draw on the expertise and experience of senior humanities academics in the Department for Continuing Education and across the University. They are designed to allow effective study on a part-time basis. Students will be part of a lively Graduate School community in the Department for Continuing Education. As part of the Graduate School, your individual study will be complemented by broader interdisciplinary research seminars, training opportunities and social events.

Success in part-time master’s studies can prepare students for undertaking a DPhil.
