Goldscheider Horn Trio

Sunday 26 January

Goldscheider Horn Trio will perform a programme including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johannes Brahms for a concert as part of the Trinity Recitals season. Ben Goldscheider (horn), former BBC Young Musician of the Year, is Principal Horn in the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra and still plays widely as a soloist and chamber musician. Benjamin Baker (violin) came from New Zealand to study violin first at the Yehudi Menuhin School and then at the Royal College of Music. Huw Watkins (piano) is a composer as well as a brilliant pianist, and his own Horn Trio will be played in this concert. Pictured: Ben Goldscheider.

The Jurassic Highway

Dinosaurs were roaming around Oxfordshire 166 million years ago, and the clues to who was here and how they behaved are found in the fossils left behind. At this event you can hear from researchers from the Universities of Oxford and Birmingham who have recently uncovered fossil footprints (trackways) in North Oxfordshire that form part of a huge ‘dinosaur highway’. This panel session will delve deeper into the science from the researchers that excavated these trackways. Learn more about the nine-metre fearsome predator Megalosaurus, and herbivorous dinosaurs up to twice that size that made these footprints.

Writing contemporary fiction for younger readers

The Kellogg Centre for Creative Writing will welcome multi award-winning author of contemporary fiction for young people, Ele Fountain, for a seminar in February 2025. Her books explore subjects which infuse our daily lives, examining the connection between media perception and reality. Her debut novel, Boy 87, won four awards, and her second, Lost, was a Guardian Children’s Book of the Year. Fake has been selected as a BookTrust Future Classic and Wild was a Financial Times Best Book of the Year. Her latest novel, Storm Child, was a Times Book of the Week.
