A rehearsed reading of Sally & Tom by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks.
At the centre of the play is the charged relationship between Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings, the enslaved woman who lived and negotiated within his household. Parks refuses simple narratives, presenting Sally not as a passive figure but as a sharp, witty and resilient presence whose voice cuts through history.

Blending humour, theatrical daring and political edge, Sally & Tom confronts the contradictions of America’s founding myths and asks what stories we choose to tell about power, freedom and desire. This landmark rehearsed reading marks the UK debut of Sally & Tom and offers audiences the chance to encounter Parks’ searing vision live on stage.

The rehearsed reading of the play will be followed by a Q&A with Suzan-Lori Parks.

Part of Unfinished Revolutions, a season tracing the living legacy of 1776.
