Book launch: Art Restoration Under the Nazi Regime

Through meticulous research, Dr Morwenna Blewett offers an in-depth study of art conservation and restoration under the Nazis. The author not only exposes patterns of complicity behind the participation of the conservation and restoration profession in this network of profit, crime, persecution and ideological broadcast but asks us to reflect on the enduring danger that knowledge and skill are vulnerable to being co-opted by power and its misrepresentation of reality.

'Beyond the Appliances of Art': Lewis Carroll and his Illustrators

Ongoing to February 26

This exhibition explores how Lewis Carroll worked with artists to create the illustrations for his books and made sure the pictures matched his ideas and fitted his text. A highlight is the Michelson Alice, donated jointly to the Bodleian Libraries and Christ Church in 2025 by Ellen A. Michelson. See how Carroll's works have also inspired later artists and illustrators to produce their own interpretations. The exhibition celebrates the 150th anniversary of the publication of Carroll’s The Hunting of the Snark.

Super Science Saturday

Saturday 7 March

Oxford University Museum of Natural History has organised a science bonanza event this March. Head along to the museum on Parks Road to meet scientists, researchers and experts at this family-friendly science fair filled with fun and curiosity. The event is free, with no booking required. Just show up and join in for an afternoon of hands-on and engaging science activities focusing on the natural world. Ask questions, touch real specimens and take part in fun activities. Super Science Saturday is recommended for ages 8+
