Planning and Consultation
More than £100 million per year is spent on major building projects and £2 billion will be invested in the estate as a whole over the next decade. This includes restoration and refurbishment projects as well as new buildings, enabling the University to continue to offer excellent teaching and accommodate world-leading researchers in state-of-the-art facilities.
For all our projects we have a detailed planning procedure which is followed by our project managers, planning consultants, and architects.
The University is also mindful of its responsibility towards the local community and ensures that people are informed and consulted about proposed projects and planning applications. We organise events that provide opportunities to view proposals, speak to University staff and designers, and give us feedback. We take this feedback into account before any planning application is submitted.
The University is also a Client Partner of the prestigious Considerate Constructors Scheme. As a member, the University must abide by the Code of Considerate Practice covering five key areas, including respect for the local community.
