Oxford and SEREN
We have worked closely with the Welsh Government’s Seren programme for several years. Oxford Cymru will continue and develop this collaboration with Seren and the associated Seren Hubs across Wales.
We attend most major Seren events such as the annual Seren Conference, university admissions events and regional Hub launches. We also work closely with the Seren Hubs to offer Taster Days, admissions and information workshops, subject master classes, and other academic focused programmes both in Wales and Oxford.
Seren Jesus College Summer Schools – Year 12
Jesus College’s flagship events – the Seren Jesus College Summer Schools – are the highlight of the Jesus summer events programme and sees the College and its partners work with 360+ Seren learners!
For 2022, the summer schools programme was bigger and better than ever. There were two summer schools delivered in July and August:
- Online International Summer School: a two-week subject-focussed programme, with scenario-based projects that were presented to experts in the Welsh Government.
- Jesus College Residential Summer School: An inter-disciplinary and skills focused residential event that explored the theme of ‘the cutting edge!’ Seventy-six Seren learners joined us in Oxford to experience academic lectures, seminars, tutorials and admissions workshops – an immersive taste of life as an Oxford student!
Applications for 2023 expect to open in late 2022. These programmes are highly competitive and we strongly encourage future Year 12 Seren students to apply at the appropriate time. Please visit the Jesus College website here, which will be updated as and when further information is available.
Due to the Coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic, the Summer School 2020 was moved to a virtual programme. Here is what some of the 2020 cohort had to say about their virtual experience.
