New Warden of Rhodes House appointed

Mr Charles Conn has been appointed the new Warden of Rhodes House. He will take up the Wardenship on 24 June 2013, just after the end of Trinity Term.

Mr Conn is currently Senior Advisor to the Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation, where he has served since 2001. At the Moore Foundation he has worked on large scale conservation projects, including preservation of wild salmon ecosystems. He previously served as CEO of Ticketmaster-Citysearch, having co-founded Citysearch in 1995 and overseen the merger with Ticketmaster. He serves on a number of charitable and corporate boards, including Patagonia and Trout Unlimited.

Commenting on his new role, Mr Conn said: 'This is an exciting time for the Rhodes Trust as we near its 110th anniversary, with new strategic initiatives and an energetic commitment to helping develop young leaders for the new millennium. I am honoured to have been asked to be Warden.'

The Chair of the Rhodes Trustees, Dr John Hood, said: 'We are delighted to have someone of Charles' experience and calibre joining the Trust. We believe that he will continue to ensure that the Scholars receive excellent pastoral and academic guidance while they are in Oxford. It is also a critical time for the Trust in regards to fundraising and we are confident that Charles will lead this effort to success. We all look forward to working with him.'

Charles Conn holds a BA from Boston University and an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business. During his time in Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, Charles achieved first class Honours in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. He is a citizen of both Canada and the United States. 

Rhodes House, Oxford, is the home of the Rhodes Scholarships and the Rhodes Trust, and offers facilities for educational and other purposes.
