Professor Sánchez-Ancochea’s research focuses on the costs of income inequality and some of the ways to reduce it.  He is particularly interested in the determinants of universal social policy, particularly in Latin America, as well as public policy more generally.

He collaborates regularly with international institutions like the United Nations Development Program and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.
