Professor Boris Motik

Professor of Computer Science; Fellow of Somerville College

About

Professor Motik is interested in developing the algorithms and techniques necessary for realising advanced applications in the Semantic Web. He has studied the ontology language OWL and is now researching the application of ontology techniques to data management problems in databases and big data. Specifically, he is investigating ways of using variants of datalog — a language at the intersection of logic programming and databases — to represent and access data and is also studying related theoretical and practical problems, such as efficient evaluation of datalog programs and efficient maintenance of datalog materialisations.
