Poetry in the Galleries

Drop-in, FREE activity on Saturday afternoon at the Ashmolean Museum. The tour will take place in the Modern Art Gallery. Meet at the Welcome desk on the Ground Floor.

The Ashmolean welcomes back old friends, and new ones to our series of poetry tours in 2024.

Poets from Oxford and surrounding areas will explore and celebrate the Museum’s pieces, renowned or recherché, intriguing or glorious.

On this tour in March, our poet speakers will focus on the artists and exhibits in the Modern Art Gallery.

Poems will be recited next to the objects and artworks that inspired the poets. If you want to talk to the poets, most of us are friendly!
