This concert is part of the Instruments of Time & Truth Summer Concert Series 2021.

François Couperin was one of the foremost musicians in the Royal Court of France at the turn of the 18th Century, and the centre of gravity of a talented musical family. Equally comfortable at court, at church, or simply making music at home, this performance takes in the breadth of the Couperins’ musical output and imagines an intimate performance to showcase the versatility of the entire family’s skills. IT&T performs the music of this musical chameleon under the expert direction of French Baroque expert, Edward Higginbottom.

François Couperin (1668-1733):

La Pucelle

Pièces de clavecin

Premier leçon de ténèbres

Pièces de viole (from the 2e suite)

Pièces de clavecin L’impériale

Featuring: Alice Harberd (soprano); Davina Clarke and Anna Curzon (violins); Reiko Ichise (basse de viole); Edward Higginbottom (harpsichord/organ)
