Pond Life

Monday 30 March

Dive into the wonderful world of pond life at two events at the Museum of Natural History this month. Join in for fun, hands-on events where kids can discover the amazing creatures that live in ponds. Those heading along can also make their own pond-themed craft to take home and get an up-close look at real museum specimens – from fascinating frogs to incredible insects. Pond Life also runs on March 31. Explore, create and learn about the animals that call ponds home! Recommended for children aged 3+.

Houseplant Care

Thursday 23 April

Learn how to care for your houseplants with expert horticulturists, including how to feed, water and manage pests and diseases, at this event at the Oxford Botanic Garden. The course will begin with a tour of the plants growing in the glasshouses at the Botanic Garden and will be followed by a demonstration and workshop in the Conservatory. This is a chance for you to get some top tips and advice, and be inspired to try out new techniques with the plants growing in your own home.

Visiting Professor of Creative Media Lecture with Bernardine Evaristo

Wednesday 6 May

Bernardine Evaristo OBE has been appointed as this year's Visiting Professor of Creative Media and will give a talk on 'The Girl from Woolwich: A Creative Life' at the Sheldonian Theatre. Bernardine made history as the first Black woman and first Black British person to win the Booker Prize with her novel Girl, Woman, Other and will talk about how her creativity was shaped by London in the 60s and the choices she has made to sustain a lifelong career as a writer.
