About
Sir Walter's research group's primary interests lie in the fundamental genetics and biology of colorectal cancer and their potential applications, and the characterisation and population distribution of genetic diversity in human populations, especially of the British Isles.
Sir Walter has held a number of position over his career including: President of the Galton Institute; Chairman and President of the British Association; Chairman of the National Radiological Protection Board; Director and Director-General of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund; Chairman of the Leukaemia Research Fund's Medical and Scientific Advisory Panel; and Principal of Hertford College, Oxford.
