About
Professor Goodman studies the political, social and religious history of the Jews in the Roman Empire, in particular the relationship of the Jews to the wider Roman world in which they lived. He is the author of a number of books on the Jewish revolts against Rome, the rabbis in the Roman world, and the history of Judaism.
He was President of the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies from 2014 to 2018.
