Dr Skinner works on nineteenth-century British political and religious history and has published widely on paternalist and reactionary thought in the 1830s and 1840s. He is currently working on a book on Peel and religion. He has also contributed a number of individual and group entries on clergymen, writers, and motorcycle racers to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.
