Dr Banu Demir Pakel is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Oxford, and a Tutorial Fellow at Brasenose College, Oxford.
Her research explores international trade, firm dynamics and environmental economics, focusing on trade policy, productivity and sustainability using micro-level data. She is a Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) in London and CESifo (Munich).
Previously, Dr Demir Pakel was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Princeton (2016–2017) and a Visiting Fellow at LSE’s Centre for Economic Performance (2022). She earned her DPhil from Oxford in 2012.
