LATE SCHUBERT III

Haydn: String Quartet in D major, Op. 76/5
Caroline Shaw: ‘Valencia’ for string quartet
Alexander McNamee: ‘Forest Edge’ for piano quintet (world premiere)
Schubert: String Quartet No. 13 in A minor, D. 804 (‘Rosamunde’)

In this continuation concert to the Villiers Quartet’s memorable Late Schubert series started last year, the great Austrian composer’s well-loved ‘Rosamunde’ quartet forms the backdrop to two new contemporary classical works – Caroline Shaw’s ‘Valencia’ and ‘Forest Edge’, a new piano quintet composed by St Hilda’s College’s exceptionally talented third year undergraduate student, Alexander McNamee.

6.15pm, pre-concert talk: Dr Peter Copley
