Following the incredible success of the Villiers Quartet’s memorable survey of the last five string quartets of Beethoven, we are very excited to begin a new cycle devoted to late Schubert, where the great Austrian composer’s most exceptional chamber works are paired with music by women composers. In each concert of the new series the quartet will be performing alongside many of St Hilda’s College’s outstanding performers and composers. On this occasion the Villiers is joined by second-year cellist, Ollie Simpson, in a performance of Schubert’s string quintet, whose famous slow movement is one of the most-loved pieces in the chamber music repertoire.
