Professor Carlos Moreno, creator of the concept of the 15-minute city, will be giving the Transport Studies Unit’s inaugural Annual Lecture as part of the TSU seminar series. The lecture focuses on a ground-breaking approach in urban planning, aiming to create urban environments where all essential needs are available within a short travel time on foot or bicycle. The 15-minute city idea seeks to reduce reliance on motor vehicles, decrease carbon emissions, and enhance the quality of life in urban settings. Carlos will introduce the 15-minute city concept, exploring its origins and evolution and move on to discuss the impact the concept has had to date on urban planning and mobility around the globe. He will conclude by exploring the potential of the 15-minute city for the future of urban and transport planning.
