This is music from across the centuries; stately, skilful, and very much alive.

Travel back in time to experience the splendour and majesty of 16th and 17th-century Venice with Schola Cantorum of Oxford and His Majestys Sagbutts and Cornetts. Music from this awe-inspiring city sat at the very heart of the choral world for over a century, with composers such as Andrea and Giovanni Gabrieli writing glittering, soaring music that perfectly matched its opulent surroundings.

Joining forces with the UK’s most established period brass ensemble, Oxford University’s premier chamber choir, conducted by Steven Grahl, offer a dazzling programme with these ‘glories of Venice’ at its heart.

This vivid grandeur is paired with modern-day homage to the beauty of Renaissance choral music, with the premiere of a new work from Professor Martyn Harry which takes the intricate choral music of William Byrd as its inspiration, alongside a new work celebrating the Schwarzman Centre by Nico Muhly.
